Billing & fees
Initial consultations are $350 for one hour.
Psychotherapy sessions are 50 minutes and $300. Medications, if any, are discussed in the same session (i.e., no separate medication consultation visit or charge). Sometimes the fee can be adjusted in cases of financial hardship, for example if therapy is regularly scheduled more often than once a week.
Medication-only visits are $175 for about 20 minutes. Due to my special interest in psychotherapy, I am usually not available for new patients seeking medication-only treatment.
Please provide at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. You will be charged for same-day cancellations or failure to show for your appointment.
I am not on managed-care insurance panels and do not bill insurance companies. I am no longer a Medicare provider. Please pay in full at the time of service. Established patients can also arrange payment through bill-pay services offered by banks and similar financial institutions.
For the past few years, Zelle (bank-to-bank cash transfer) has been the most common and convenient form of payment. Personal checks are equally welcome. I can also accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express, contactless payments like Apple Pay, and Paypal. However, I still prefer Zelle or checks (or cash), as neither of us pays a service charge. To pay a business, Zelle only works through a bank website, not Zelle’s freestanding app.
Patients receive monthly itemized statements ("super bills"), by email or on paper, suitable for insurance reimbursement, and I will supply additional paperwork or documentation, at no extra charge, to assist you in working with your health plan. However, you are financially responsible for all services provided.
Out-of-network providers like me are required to provide a written Good Faith Estimate of fees, and to notify you that your costs will likely be lower if you choose an in-network provider instead. The “good faith estimate” of your initial session is $350, as stated above. After this, your costs depend on whether and how long you choose to continue working with me. You may cancel sessions without penalty given at least one day’s advance notice, or end our working relationship at any time. If you have any questions about this, please ask.
